Acceptance and Commitment Therapy focuses on helping adults improve their quality of life through developing strategies to live more fully with all life experiences in the present moment.

ACT Group

Starting this fall, participants in our ACT group will learn mindfulness- and acceptance-based approaches to cope with a wide range of difficulties (e.g. depression, anxiety, stress, worry, as well as uncomfortable or painful memories and physical sensations). In ACT treatment, clients are not asked to think differently, change how they feel, or eliminate anything about themselves to be “cured” or “changed.” Rather, clients will work on enhancing their awareness and acceptance of their emotions, thoughts, and sensations in such a way that these internal experiences no longer interfere with living a values-driven life. ACT will help clients to reconnect with personally important life domains and consistently take values-guided actions to promote vitality and meaningful participation in their present lives.

Sessions of the ACT group run weekly, starting Thursday, February 28th, from 6-7PM.
