Public Speaking/Presenting Performance Coaching
Performance Anxiety or “stage fright” is the anxiety, fear, or persistent phobia which may be brought about in a child by the requirement to perform in front of an audience. Such anxiety may precede or accompany participation in any activity involving public performance.
Sports Performance and Competition Coaching
Sports Performance and Competition Anxiety involves increased distress when faced with sports performance and/or competition. The ability to cope with pressure and anxiety is an integral part of sports. An inability to cope with anxiety before or during athletic competitions can hinder your child’s performance as an athlete, and interfere with their enjoyment of these activities.
Test-taking Performance Coaching
Test anxiety involves a combination of physiological over-arousal, worry and dread about test performance, and avoidance of effective preparation which often interferes with normal learning and lowers test performance. Test anxiety can result in extreme stress, anxiety, and discomfort during and/or before taking a test. This is often a factor for children and adolescents faced with standardized tests and/or class tests in school, and sometimes even homework assignments.
New York City school entrance exams (ISEE/SHSAT/SSAT) and national standardized tests (SAT, ACT) are common stressors for parents and students alike. CBT/DBT Associates offers test-taking performance coaching to help children and adolescents learn to manage anxiety and build confidence so that they can do their best on test day. This program specifically targets students who have had difficulties with procrastination, test preparation and/or test performance due to anxiety. Coaching is individualized to meet each child’s specific needs, including working with families when appropriate.
