Jacob Firestone, Psy.D.Jacob Firestone earned his Psy.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from La Salle University. He earned his M.S. and B.S. in Psychology from Tulane University. Dr. Firestone completed an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System.

Dr. Firestone has extensive training working with adults and adolescents, providing evidence-based individual and group treatments grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). He also specializes in the provision of trauma-focused treatments, including Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). He has worked at length in outpatient and inpatient settings treating diverse clinical populations, including but not limited to individuals with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, trauma-related disorders, substance use disorders, and personality disorders.

During his internship and postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Firestone specialized in the assessment and treatment of anxiety, mood, personality, and trauma-related disorders. Prior to internship, he provided group, milieu, and brief, solution-oriented individual psychotherapy for adult patients with acute and chronic psychopathology on inpatient psychiatric recovery units at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center (CMCVAMC). As a practicum student at the CMCVAMC, he also developed and implemented inpatient-relevant group curricula, including DBT-informed skills training and ACT, and applied Motivational Interviewing (MI) in weekly outpatient smoking cessation and inpatient tobacco information groups. In addition to his therapy experience, Dr. Firestone has several years of training conducting neuropsychological and psycho-educational assessments with adults and adolescents. Dr. Firestone is also a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Sciences (ACBS).
