School Readiness Evaluations

Children and adolescents with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) often have difficulty beginning or completing work, following instructions, and keeping organized. They may be extremely impulsive in their behaviors and/or emotions. They may struggle with school and also socially with peers. Proper psychoeducational assessment of ADHD can be crucial, as there are evidence-based interventions that can greatly benefit kids. While not always necessary, a neuropsychological evaluation can be crucial in ruling out other conditions, such as learning disabilities, depression, or anxiety, that can be mistaken for or can co-occur with ADHD. Additionally, a comprehensive evaluation can determine areas of strength and weakness with regard to academic ability and aid in developing personalized recommendations to optimize academic success.
Accommodations for Standardized Testing and Schooling
This comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation will assess multiple areas involved in your child’s ability to complete tests and academic assignments to the best of his or her abilities. Based on the results of this psychoeducational evaluation, we can help determine your child’s area(s) of difficulty and provide recommendations for adjustments and accommodations to be made in the classroom, when completing assignments, or when participating in standardized testing. Signs your child may need accommodations include: working harder than most and still not achieving academically, performing below his or her grade level on testing, difficulty paying attention to instructions, and/or struggling to complete assignments in the specified time period. If results indicate that your child struggles with attention, concentration, quick processing of information, or academic achievement, individualized recommendations will be provided that may include additional time on tests, completing work in a separate room, and/or being given a note-taker or verbal instructions.
