Monica Shah | Pre-doctoral Intern
Monica Shah is a pre-doctoral intern at CBT/DBT Associates. She received an Honors B.Sc. Specialist in Psychology at the University of Toronto, an M.Ed. in School Psychology from the University of British Columbia, and is completing the final year of her Psy.D. in School Psychology at St. John’s University. Before beginning her doctoral training, Ms. Shah worked as a Certified School Psychologist in British Columbia and supported students with unique needs in elementary, secondary, and post-secondary settings. Her role has spanned direct assessment, individual and group intervention, consultation, advocacy, and systems-level work within mental health and special education. She recently completed her pre-doctoral externship and is an Associate Fellow at the Albert Ellis Institute, where she received in-depth training in rational emotive behavior therapy. Ms. Shah has treated both youth and adults with anxiety, depression, OCD, anger, ADHD, learning and intellectual disabilities, autism, emotional dysregulation, behavioral challenges, executive functioning deficits, and social difficulties. Her research and clinical interests include the use of mindfulness strategies with special school-based populations.
